MakeItBy is designed to work without an account. This page explains what information is used when you compare flights and what may be processed in your browser or on the server.
Comparison Information
When you run a comparison, the flight identities you submit, their departure dates, and your arrival deadline are sent to the MakeItBy server so schedule details can be resolved and the comparison can be completed.
Comparison History
Accounts are optional. If you choose email sign-in, MakeItBy retains your verified email address and an account-linked credit wallet. MakeItBy does not offer saved flight-comparison history.
MakeItBy Operational Diagnostics
MakeItBy may record basic server-side operational diagnostics such as request timing, result status, candidate counts, and provider-request counts. These first-party diagnostic records are intended for reliability and troubleshooting and do not require a MakeItBy account. Third-party site analytics are described separately below.
Comparison Credits and Payments
MakeItBy tracks comparison credits in a server-side credit wallet. Guest browsers use an opaque HttpOnly cookie; the server retains its hash and the corresponding credit transactions. For optional email accounts, the server stores your normalized email, short-lived hashed sign-in codes, and hashed account-session tokens. Email sign-in codes expire after 15 minutes and sessions after 30 days. The email delivery provider processes your email address to send the code.
If you choose to buy comparison credits, payment checkout is provided by Stripe. Payment information such as card details is entered with Stripe rather than stored by MakeItBy. MakeItBy receives payment-status and transaction identifiers needed to grant and reconcile credits.
The initial paid beta is limited to U.S. customers. Stripe collects a U.S. address during Checkout to confirm eligibility. The signed payment event can include that address, but MakeItBy uses the country value for the paid-beta eligibility check and does not store the full checkout address in its comparison-credit ledger.
Server Logs
Like most websites, the web server may create standard operational logs that include information such as an IP address, request path, browser user agent, response status, and request time. Application logs may also include technical details used to diagnose a comparison. These logs are used for security, reliability, and troubleshooting.
Third-Party Services
MakeItBy uses Cirium to retrieve schedule information for the flight identities you submit. Comparison requests are processed by the MakeItBy server before schedule data is returned to your browser.
MakeItBy also uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage, such as page visits, device and browser information, and interactions with the site. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar browser identifiers and may receive technical information such as your IP address as part of the web request.
Microsoft Clarity is enabled to help understand how visitors interact with the site through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session-replay diagnostics. Clarity may use cookies or similar browser identifiers.
Policy Changes
This policy may be updated as MakeItBy adds features such as accounts, saved trips, or notifications. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
